Description
- Highly desirable two-door model of the ground-breaking “classic” Range Rover
- Finished in Lincoln Green and equipped with a manual gearbox
- Good condition shows evidence of restoration
Unveiled to the world in 1970, the legendary Range Rover was the culmination of the Rover Company’s aim to combine the off-road capabilities of the Land Rover with the comfort of a road car—a vision that had started in the 1950s with the Road Rover prototype.
When the first production Range Rover made its way into public hands in the summer of 1970, it was a truly impressive package featuring permanent four-wheel drive, a durable interior with a hint of luxury, coil-sprung comfort, and a 3.5-litre V-8 engine that could propel the vehicle to 97 km/h in under 13 seconds with a top speed of 164 km/h.
Chassis number 35827686D was produced in 1976 and is an early example of a “Suffix D” model—an evolution that featured a number of mostly cosmetic changes to the specification. Finished in Lincoln Green with a leather interior, this example is a highly desirable two-door model that was delivered new to Sweden. Offered from long-term ownership, the car has remained with the consigning owner for approaching two decades. At the time of cataloguing, the odometer read 81,244 kilometres.
The good condition of this Range Rover shows evidence of restoration work, said to have been completed by Auto Classica, Sweden between 2020 and 2022. The consigning owner states that the car received a full respray and retrim, in addition to a carburettor rebuild, major service, and replacement of the fuel tank and fuel lines. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pa23.
