Description

"The MGC was the first 'high performance' version of the MGB. From early in the design stages of the MGB there was an intention to create high performance variants, using a range of Vee engines that did not make it to production. The MGC was much more than a tuned MGB, in fact it was a completely re-engineered car, but retained many visual connections to the MGB. On the outside the MGC was often mistaken for an MGB as the only visual difference was the heavily bulged bonnet with a transverse chrome strip that accentuated the bulges, and the standard use of 15” wheels instead of the 14” used on the MGB. Inside there were very few differences between the B and C, other than the 140mph speedometer and tachometer with a yellow and red banding, set against lower RPM than the MGB.This original UK supplied example, built on 21st October 1968, was despatched to dealer Cookshoot Limited in Mineral Blue coachwork over a black interior. Exported to South Africa later in its life, this MGC has more recently been repatriated to the UK. Offered in very good condition the MG has been upgraded with a lightweight aluminium 3.5 litre Rover V8 engine, bored to 3.9 litres, with gas flowed heads, fast road cam, Holley carb, original MGC final drive, telescopic dampers, stainless brake pipes, chrome wire wheels, and a five-speed gearbox. Offered with an extensive history file which includes invoices for circa £2,000 of recent work. This superb looking example produces around 200bhp and sounds fantastic when on song. We are sure this example will be huge amounts of fun for the new owner and will no doubt be a riot to drive!"
