Introduced in 1969, the Nissan 2000GT-R is a high-performance sport sedan often referred to by its nickname “Hakosuka,” which is loosely translated as “Boxy Skyline.” Powered by the twin-cam, three-carburetor inline-six developed from the exotic Prince R380 racing car, the Skyline GT-R dominated Japanese touring car racing, winning in its debut at the JAF Grand Prix and scoring more than 50 victories before Nissan’s withdrawal from racing in 1972. The two-door Hardtop, or H/T, unveiled in 1970, was shorter and lighter than its four-door predecessor. It featured more aggressive styling, a long-range 100-liter fuel tank, rear fender flares, and spartan interior with racing bucket seats, aluminum pedals, and a three-spoke steering wheel. In all, Nissan built just 1,945 examples of the first-generation Skyline GT-R, including 1,115 of the improved H/T variant.

This Skyline H/T 2000GT-R “Hakosuka” was first sold in Tokyo in April 1971 and remained in the care of its original owner until 2017, when it was sold to Symbolic International of San Diego. Kept in static museum storage since 1984, the car was sympathetically recommissioned prior to its export to the US, where it has since resided in a significant private collection. Showing approximately 59,000 km, this GT-R presents in largely original order, with only its SSR alloy wheels deviating from factory-stock appearance. Remarkably, the car retains its original interior upholstery, Mikuni Kogyo Solex carburetors, numbered keys, jack, and spare. Rarely available in the US, this is an exciting opportunity to acquire one of the finest surviving examples of an undisputed Japanese Domestic Market legend.
