1957 Talbot Lago Sport 2500 T14LS
This Talbot Lago Sport 2500 T14LS was originally delivered through sales agent Damiron on January 9, 1957. It’s the second last produced Talbot Lago T14LS, only one chassis was produced after this car. According to the built sheet we have on file, the car was originally delivered with a four-speed ZF gearbox, the same that’s in the car today. Furthermore the car has its original 2500cc engine. When delivered the coachwork was metallic grey with Mastil 2500 vinyl and fabric interior and the car was fitted with Robergel enemal wheels, heating, defrosting and sun visors. We are happy to confirm the car survived completely in the same condition as it left the factory.
The first eight years of the car’s history are currently not known to us. We only know the car was registered in the area of Versailles (department Seine-et-Oise, currently: Yvelines) with plate 6484 EZ 78.
On July 29, 1965 the car was acquired by a Mr. Georges Andre Ovalde from Rosny sous-Bois. He registered the car with plate 6656 RT 75. He owned the car until it was sold 18 October 1968 to the last custodian.
The last custodian, Mr. Fromentin, acquired the Talbot Lago for 5.500 France Francs. He registered the car on October 31, 1969 with plate 9615 L 94. On May 3, 1970, the car entered with number 28 in the Coupe de l’age d’Or at Montlhéry finishin 7th in the competition class. In the history file we have some invoices from work carried out in the early 1970s, including the famous Talbot workshop “Georges Grignard”.
The last noted mileage was 71.962 kilometers on June 24, 1971. It seems that the car was parked a few days later, as the actual mileage is 72.035 kilometers. Which is believed to be the original total mileage since this Talbot Lago T14LS was delivered back in 1957. The car was discovered in the beginning of 2022 and acquired by Real Art on Wheels immediately. With a total production run of only 54 examples and the majority in restored condition, this might be one of the most original T14LS in existence. We have planned to carry out a precise conserving restoration. The engine, gearbox and rear axle are being restored completely. The interior seats, doorpanels and headlining are still in very good and original condition, the carpets will be renewed. Some non-original switches and lights are being sourced and replaced. We thank the brothers Nicolas and Victor Maier of the Talbot Lago Registry for their assistance. We will restore this car technically, preserving its irreplaceable patina – remaining a non-restored car.
When this project is finished, we might bring her to a concours to participate in the Preservation Class. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for further details.
