Description
With its two previous generations, based on the E30 and E36 platforms, firmly cemented as performance legends, BMW introduced a new M3 to the public for the 2001 model year. Based on the advanced E46 architecture introduced in 1997, the new M3 was a great leap forward in terms of outright performance, mostly stemming from the new S54 straight-six engine that produced a stout 333 hp in US-specification cars. Bulging bodywork covering larger wheels and tires, along with larger brakes, revised suspension, and a torque-sensing differential rounded out the substantive changes over more pedestrian versions of the E46.
This stunning 2001 M3 occupies a place at the top of the E46-generation hierarchy, featuring low mileage, a rare color, and BMW’s classic six-speed manual gearbox. Finished in Laguna Seca Blue, the most sought-after color for the model, with gray leather upholstery, this M3 presents in stunning condition and showed less than 16,000 miles at the time of cataloguing. Throughout Rudy Mancinas’ ownership it was regularly serviced. Notably, in 2019, the all-important rod bearing replacement was performed by BMW of West Houston, Texas. At the same time, the DME control module was programmed and the passenger side airbag was replaced. In 2021, the same dealer performed an annual oil service and replaced the air-conditioning blower. This BMW is optioned with the cold weather package, power glass sunroof, bi-xenon headlights, and a Harman Kardon sound system. Accompanied by a CARFAX Vehicle History Report, this M3 stands ready to bring smiles to the face of a new owner.
