Description
1986 RENAULT 5 GT TURBO GROUPE N
Belgian title
Chassis n° VF1C40505G0506749
Two owners from new
Documented preparation by its first owner
In an interesting state of conservation
This Renault 5 GT Turbo of the first series was bought by Baudouin Lempereur in December 1993 from its first owner, an enthusiast from the Namur region who had it prepared Group N (tourism series). Moreover, an important folder of invoices keeps a trace of all the preparation. We understand that the mechanical elements were prepared by Renault Namur, the Devil bolted roll cage, and the safety elements were fitted out by Carrosserie G. Dor, in Malonne. An anti-roll bar was added and Baudouin Lempereur himself fitted a contactor intended to improve cooling, and a turbo pressure gauge. Likewise, a period bucket seat has been installed for the driver, with Sparco harness. The car took part at the time in several events, in the Group N Class 4 category, as can be seen by the ASAF Technical Passport which comes with it. This GT Turbo seems to be well preserved. The sheet metal work is in satisfactory condition considering the age of the car, with no visible signs of impact, and the plastic accessories, which are very fragile, are not damaged. The boot contains a few parts sold with the car, such as exhausts, suspension springs and a radiator.
This small car designed by Renault at the time of the GTI was particularly agile and could reach 200 km/h. With an odometer indicating 111,703 km, this Renault 5 GT Turbo is a terrific testimony to the rally world of the 1980s. It is rare to find a model in such a well-preserved condition.
