Description

1963 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS F85 « LE GENDARME DE SAINT TROPEZ »

French title
Chassis n° 631M12602

• Car from the film "Le gendarme de Saint Tropez"
• Sold new in France
• An American with a European dimension

This Oldsmobile Cutlass F85, a rarity in France, was registered new on 17 January 1963, and registered in the Bouches du Rhône in the name of Société Nouvelle de Cinématographie on 20 April 1963 with registration number 289 LJ 06. The car was then used in the film "Le gendarme de Saint Tropez", a real popular success by Jean Girault released in 1964. In the final scene, we recognize the car in which Louis de Funès, alias Cruchot, parades on the port of Saint Tropez, driven by Michel Galabru, who plays Warrant Officer Gerber. Since this cinematic accolade, the car has changed its color from white to a pretty sky blue, while the engine compartment has retained the original color. The beige soft top is in good condition, as is the upholstery, which is generally well preserved. The odometer is graduated in km/h and displays a little over 10,000km, which in fact means 110,000 km. Its current owner acquired it in the Lyon region. An invoice from 2016 informs us that the axle shaft seals, the lower card gasket and rocker covers were replaced and that an electronic ignition and a stainless-steel exhaust were fitted. This beautiful convertible is just waiting for a new owner to return to the place of its glory and be parked in a double line in front of Sénéquier.
