Description

After the sale of Aston Martin to ‘Company Developments’ in January 1972, work immediately started on a comprehensive facelift of the DBS V8. The main visual cue being the adoption of single headlamps and a revised front grille and renamed the AMV8, the car initially retained Bosch mechanical fuel injection system until August 1973, when four twin choke Weber carburettors were fitted, together with updates to the interior trim, a bigger bonnet bulge to clear the carburettor air box and a re-designed fuel tank to allow more luggage space.

AMV8 continued unchanged until 1977, when detailed engine modifications were announced as the “Stage 1” tune to improve performance. Among other things, the exhaust system was revised to improve engine breathing and new camshafts were installed to allow improved intake and exhaust flow into the cylinder. Easily identified from the Black bezel instrumentation. Handling was also improved by the use of telescopic rear shock absorbers.

This 1978 Aston Martin V8 S has been finished in Storm Red with a gorgeous Fawn trim, her original colour scheme, (unfortunately many cars from this period have received colour changes). In addition, this car benefits from having a full service history from new, with all work completed by either Aston Martin Works or Aston Martin specialists for the last 3 decades and all MOT certificates from 1984. A true time warp car having covered only 48,500 miles.
