This Reo The Fifth has the number T4142. It was put into circulation in 1915 under its Double Phaeton bodywork. We trace its history back to the 1960s, when it was owned by the Vintage Motor Museum in Mobile. This is where it was acquired by Clarence and Wilma Bredt of Alabama in 1979. They had their new mount restored. The Reo was subsequently used regularly by the couple on AACA outings, securing no less than 13 first places in competition. It was also present at the annual gathering in Seville Square in September 1989, winning again, the first place, in particular because it was identical to the Staff Car of General Pershing during the First World War. In total, Clarence and Wilma Bredt drove nearly 10,000 miles behind the wheel of their Fifth, gleaning numerous photos, press articles and other technical documents in addition to the car’s complete dossier. It was in 2015 that its current owner, an avid American automobile enthusiast, acquired it. The car has not changed since its restoration in 1979 and is still in very good condition. Its dark blue paint shows a few marks of time but still offers a beautiful result, like its leather upholstery and its canvas hood. Its mechanics are maintained and still work very well, its owner having taken part in several rallies at the wheel, even allowing himself a few peaks at nearly 80 km / h.
So it’s a rare car that we are presenting for sale today, an elegant American-style roadster from the turn of the last century with so many stories to tell!
