Description

This fabulous Land Rover is an early and very rare County Station Wagon featuring the very desirable V8 engine and manual gearbox with factory optioned power steering. Being a very early example it features the sliding windows only fitted for the first few months of production. It is to full County spec complete with tweed interior, steps, and rear bench seats. This must be the finest example for it is in superb and original condition and has covered only 42,000 miles in the hands of just four owners from new.
The Land Rover was ordered from new by Mr Morris based in Horsham, Surrey. It was supplied to him on the 17th September 1983 by his local Land Rover dealer, Southern Counties Garages in Crawley, West Sussex. He retained the car until 2007 and covered only 10,000 road miles in this period.
In 2007 the well-regarded Land Rover Centre in Huddersfield sold the car to a Mrs Magee based in Edinburgh. She kept the car until 2012 and increased the mileage to 40,000 miles, at which point it was once again offered for sale by the Land Rover Centre. At this point the car was purchased by a regular Hairpin customer, to join his super collection of immaculate and original low mileage cars.
Hairpin purchased this Land Rover in 2014 from the above-mentioned collection and sold it very quickly to Land Rover enthusiast who could see how good the car was. Since purchase it has been professionally stored and serviced by the Land Rover centre in Huddersfield.
We recently bought the car back and it has just received a full service. During this last ownership the car has covered only a few hundred miles.
This really is a great Landie and still remains very usable. It is in amazingly original shape and well deserves that much overused "time warp" description. It has clearly been very carefully used by all four owners and it’s truly remarkable off-road ability never tested. It is very easy to drive and is very well sorted, indeed I performs much as it must have when brand new.

It comes with all original books in the correct wallet and a plaque from the Best of British Concours D' Elegance it was invited to attend in September 2012.
