The Citroën Rosalie was presented at the 1932 Paris Motor Show. The car was named by its number of fiscal horses as was customary at the time: Citroën 8, 10 or 15 depending on the engine chosen by the customer. The Rosalie was available as a saloon, cabriolet, coupé, and even as a utility vehicle to cover all the car markets of the time. Citroën was to try to boost the Rosalie range with a sports programme aimed at breaking the average speed records set by the little Rosalie in 1933: 300,000km were driven at an average speed of 93km/h on the Montlhéry ring road. In January 1934, Citroën decided to restyle the car's lines using a body kit designed by Bertoni and called NH (Nouvel Habillement). The bent wings, sloping radiator grille and curved bumpers gave the Rosalie a modern design in line with the Streamline Modern trend. We know at Citroën that the Rosalie was more or less doomed by the imminent arrival of the Traction, and all efforts were devoted to this car, which appeared in mid-1934.
The Rosalie presented here is a 10A version, therefore equipped with the 4-cylinder, Torpedo bodywork. It has been restyled by the designer and sculptor Flaminio Bertoni. Recently the mechanics have been revised in a concern of reliability because the collector and current owner likes to be able to drive with his cars long distance. The restoration is old but of high quality and has a nice patina. The two-tone painting is in line with the fashion of the time which consisted in painting the body and wings in a different colour. The bonnet is also in very good condition and has no tears. The upholstery and interior fittings are as they came out of the factory, without any taste faults. This version is rare on sale and deserves to be rediscovered. It's an interesting compromise between a sedan and a convertible.
