Description
"Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernised. A one-piece windscreen replaced the split screen and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, opened down to the wings and on the roadster, the bulkhead was moved back four inches to make the bonnet longer. In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by one trimmed in leather and chrome. On the early drophead coupés, an aluminium centre dash panel with an ‘X’ pattern engraving was fitted which looked similar to the early 3.8 E-Type. It was discontinued after June 1958. The standard engine, the same as fitted to the XK140, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight six rated at 180bhp at 5750rpm. These were high performance, well-appointed sports touring cars capable of 137mph and 0-60 in 7.8 seconds and could accomplish long distances with alacrity.
Manufactured on 9th July 1958 and despatched from Jaguar Cars on 28th July to New York, this XK150 was repatriated to the UK in 1997. Presenting delightfully in Old English White with contrasting red leather interior, this Jaguar is fitted with an automatic gearbox which has the benefit of intermediate speed hold, giving the driver full control of the preferred gear for any set of circumstances. Coopercraft front brakes have been fitted and she sits on 16 inch chrome wire wheels shod with a virtually new set of white wall tyres. The black mohair hood is in very good order and is nicely lined in West of England cloth. Registered in the DVLA at Swansea, the current registration will be removed prior to sale and another dateless registration issued. A comprehensive history file accompanies this drophead coupé with service and restoration invoices totalling over £25,000. A Jaguar Heritage Certificate is also included in the file. The elegance and desirability of these beautiful XK's cannot be underestimated, viewing in person is highly recommended to appreciate the quality of this delightful example."
