Description
"Porsche would begin using turbocharging technology in its race cars from 1972, developing incredible 1,100bhp competition monsters for the Can-Am Challenge Cup series in North America. That year, the marque took three out of the top four places, followed by five out of the top six the next season. Inevitably, turbocharged road models were soon turning track wins into showroom sales. The first Turbo went on sale in 1974. The 930, as it was referred to within Porsche, had a completely reworked 3.0 litre flat-six engine. Before long, the car became infamous for its exhilarating acceleration, challenging handling and extreme turbo lag. That didn’t stop it being a success, however, and buyers clamoured to have the Turbo badge on the back of their 911.
This well presented early production 3.0 litre turbo is offered in its original colour combination of Minerva Blue over a matching blue leather interior. The paintwork is in good order throughout showing very few blemishes and the interior is generally very pleasant. The seats are original and the leather, door cards and dashboard all present well with a light patina. Described to be in good driving order, this 911 is fitted with its original type four-speed gearbox and comes complete with a sizeable history file including the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, toolkit and various sundry invoices. Also included are EU taxes paid documentation and the NOVA document.Interested parties should note that the gearbox currently fitted will require renovation and as such will be professionally repaired by the vendor post auction.
The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
