This XR7 presents in exceptional condition. Built new in San Jose on the 22nd January 1968, it was sold to its first owner only 10 days later in Long Beach, California. In Grecian Gold with black leather-accented seats, this vehicle sports several factory options including air-conditioning, power disk brakes, factory tinted windows, and deluxe wheel covers.

Powered by the larger 390ci 4V V8, this vehicle provides 335 horsepower to its C-6 Merc-O-Matic transmission. Subject to a full engine rebuild in 2015, this car is ready to be driven off the showroom floor and enjoyed.

The originality of this example is verified through a deluxe Marti report, as well as the original owner identification card, logbook and import approval. Incredibly hard to find in such well-maintained condition, this Mercury Cougar XR7 would complement any garage or collection.

The introduction of the Cougar in 1967 gave Mercury its own “pony car”, which would go on to be the performance icon of the Mercury name for decades to come. Designed with a more “European” flavour in mind, the focus of the Cougar was an ideal combination of luxury and performance. The most luxurious of these cars was the XR7, showcasing several factory options over the base model, and taking design inspiration from the E-type Jaguar and fashion designer Pauline Trigere. The appeal of the Cougar has not faded over the years, and good examples are extremely desirable today.
