The Rambler Classic 770 was an Australian build to the AMC US production line. Now badged AMI, these vehicles were assembled as right-hand drives and are extremely rare today found in assembled condition and on Australian roads.
Finished in blue, the exterior of this vehicle presents well. Paired to a chrome fitted trim and wheels, the design of the 770 series held all the best attributes of its predecessors.
The interior presents immaculately for its age and features the iconic upholstered bench seat design, seating up to 4. The pleated vinyl is finished in cream in a fair condition for its age and the vehicle is fitted with lap belts, both front and rear. Displaying full dash instrumentation and the renowned Rambler steering wheel, this conservative styled vehicle is a rarity in this condition.
Powered by a 287 V8 -2 barrel- carburettor engine and paired to a 3-speed automatic Colum shift transmission, the classic 770 sedan became one of the most practical family sedans on the market.
The AMI rambler classic 770 series are becoming increasingly rare when assembled and are an investment model to the classic car industry. Any 770 in any comparable condition is a collector piece and as an Australian built example, this Rambler Classic would make a sound addition to any classic car collection.
Rambler Classics were assembled by the Australian Motor Industries company (AMI) and produced from partial Knock Down kits. Making their way over partially assembled, they were built once arriving in Australia as right-hand drives then completed with the fitment of the engine, transmission and other components. Either a 2-door or 4-doorsedan were offered in the Classic line with a new option to fit a manual transmission to the vehicle. The Rambler Classic 770 (AMC) was an American build as the successor of the Rambler Six.
