His comments are published in the latest issue of the Ferrari Official Magazine, with Clapton talking in detail about his passion for the marque and how the idea of a one-off car was born.
Designed by the Centro Stile Ferrari in collaboration with Pininfarina and the engineers from Maranello, the SP12 EC – EC for Eric Clapton – is part of Ferrari’s One-Off Programme. According to Ferrari, meticulous attention has been paid to the proportions and architecture of the SP12 EC, which has been inspired not only by the world-famous guitar player himself, but also by the model of Ferrari he particularly admires, and of which he has owned three examples over the years: the 512 BB. Other influences on the car include the magnificent 458 Italia.
Says Ferrari of the project: “Just like music is created, applying the right notes in the right places to build a musical score, so was the creative process behind the SP12 EC.”
