Who’d have thought Audi would announce this, an exciting, all-electric two-seater with innovative ‘1+1’ seating?
The ‘Audi urban concept car’ (one is never sure, with Audi’s penchant for lower-case nomenclature, which word is the actual name) is powered by two electric motors. What is just a technical study at the moment is clothed in carbonfibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) which forms a complete ‘tub’ with sides and floor merging together to form the seats.
Entry is via a sliding roof which allows ingress to the two, staggered seats. Combining the looks of a city, racing and fun car, the concept is a genuinely new direction for the Ingolstadt manufacturer.
The 21in wheels run under wheel-shaped covers housing strips of LED lights that ‘blink’ when the vehicle is in motion.
It will be presented at the IAA in Frankfurt this September.
