Superfast: The Ferrari Paintings of Dexter Brown

“I’ve never seen Dexter’s work look so well,” said Simon Khachadourian, The Pullman Gallery’s owner. The artist’s paintings, with their characteristic light and colourful style impressed the preview party: a gathering of like-minded connoisseurs that included television and radio presenter Chris Evans and the man as well known for his prowess at a drum kit for Pink Floyd as he is as one of the world’s finest car collectors, Nick Mason.

Khachadourian conceived the idea of the tribute to Ferrari to celebrate the marque’s 60th anniversary. “The show confirms that we celebrate here our leading automotive artist, a painter of decided integrity and vision.”

The exhibition features around 70 original works and offers a true perspective of Dexter Brown’s preoccupation over four decades with the all-time favourite Italian carmaker. A great number of the paintings catalogued are also illustrated in Superfast: The Ferrari Paintings of Dexter Brown, published in limited edition form, to coincide with the major gallery exhibition.

Two editions are available: a Standard Edition, limited to 500 examples, cloth-bound with slipcase, numbered and signed by author and artist (£375 plus P&P) and the Collector's Edition, limited to 50 examples, bound in Giallo Fly goatskin with slipcase, numbered and signed (£695 plus P&P).

Sitting quietly outside the Mayfair gallery was Nick Mason’s 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, resplendent in its 3rd overall at Le Mans of that year livery. It, and Dexter Brown’s vibrant paintings, brought colour to a wet London spring evening.
