One of the highlights of a crowded 2005 historic motor racing calendar was the first Tour Brittania. The event will be repeated in 2006, and this time extra circuits have been added to the itinerary. This year's Tour will visit three new circuits as well as returning to Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire, one of the stars of the very successful 2005 event.

Oulton Park has been added to the event’s repertoire thanks to a Christmas social meeting between two of Britain’s leading motor sport personalities.

Formula One design genius Adrian Newey and circuit supremo, ex-Grand Prix driver Jonathan Palmer discussed the event, where Newey finished a fine third overall in 2005 in his Ford GT40, and agreed that having Tour Britannia visit more of MotorSport Visions portfolio of circuits could only help the event become even more successful.

“I am delighted to have Tour Britannia visiting both Cadwell Park and Oulton Park this year,” said MotorSport Vision Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer. “In Tour Britannia, Fred Gallagher, Alec Poole and their team have created a unique and very special event, and I admire their initiative. Adrian Newey is a good friend of mine and was telling me how much he enjoyed the successful inaugural event last year. Indeed, it was he who suggested that we open up our other venues to Tour Britannia in 2006. I may even be tempted to have a go at the event myself!”

Fred Gallagher, Tour Britannia’s Sporting Director said: “Last year we introduced a lot of our competitors to Cadwell Park for the first time and they were all amazed at what a fantastic track it is. We call it the mini-Nurburgring! Now, thanks to Jonathan Palmer’s initiative we are going to Oulton Park, another venue that really suits our event. With its beautiful parkland setting and challenging layout it will be one of the jewels in Tour Britannia 2006.”



The event’s Commercial Director, Alec Poole, added: “Donington Park will be another great venue for Tour Britannia. It’s a wonderful circuit and will certainly be a challenge for all the competitors. In addition, the place oozes history. Donington has been home to the British Grand Prix while the Tourist Trophy was held there in 1937 and 1938, so it certainly fits all the criteria for Tour Britannia.”

The final test of the event will be held at the beautiful little Mallory Park circuit in Leicestershire where historic cars will feel totally at home. The 1.35 mile circuit will prove a fitting host to Tour Britannia 2005 before competitors return to nearby Coombe Abbey for the gala prize-giving lunch.

In addition to the four race circuits there will be a variety of speed tests at stately homes, parks, and hill climb venues.

Tour Britannia, a unique event on Britain’s motorsport calendar, is open to owners of pre-1976 road legal cars. The event takes place between 5-8 September 2006.
