Description
This Jaguar E type, originally delivered to the USA as a 3.8 litre roadster and first registered in 1963, boasts a fascinating history. Already in its early years the car was converted to a 4.2 litre engine but sparce information from those years is available. In 1983 the car reached Switzerland via Colorado and was registered to the first Swiss owner in Zermatt. After another decade the car was acquired by an enthusiast from the Geneva Canton. He had extensive restoration work performed including a repaint and the restoration of the interior, exchange of the complete exhaust system as well as an overhaul of the clutch and the cylinder head. Towards the end of the Millennium the Jaguar changed ownership once more and was acquired by the current owner’s family. Not satisfied with the work performed by the previous owner, the new keeper commissioned additional work done to the cars coachwork, especially the floor section. He also equipped the car with today's red leather as well as a new soft top and had all the mechanical bits including engine and gearbox together with the electrical system thoroughly checked and overhauled. The extensive maintenance and restoration history of the last 25 years is documented with invoices close to 100’000 Swiss francs. Typically for Jaguar E-Type models of the time the doors prove a bit stubborn to shut and will need further attention. The last Veteran MOT was completed in June 2020.
