- Difficile tâche que de succéder à la légendaire Citroën DS ! La CX sortie des chaines en 1975 change littéralement de style et marque la différence avec le dessin du dessinateur Robert Opron moins radical mais tout aussi élégant. La CX connaitra elle aussi une longue carrière et si elle ne présente pas d'évolution technique majeure, c'est tout de même la première Citroën de série à moteur transversal avant.
- Les premiers modèles seront équipés du moteur des dernières DS mais très vite la concurrence allemande pousse les constructeurs français à une course à la puissance. Le phénomène GTI apparu en 1976 avec une certaine Golf, n’épargne pas la grande routière française et dès le millésime 1977, Citroën décline sa berline en version sportive. Ainsi son 4-cylindres 2,4 l à injection développe 128 ch tout en proposant un châssis à la fois confortable et sportif.
- Livrée neuve en Suisse le 12 avril 1978, notre exemplaire à l’origine gris Largentière a connu 2 propriétaires avant d’entrer dans la collection en 2007, elle affichait alors 139 000 km. Elle a ensuite bénéficié d’une importante restauration de 2008 à 2010. Ainsi la mécanique et le système hydraulique ont été entièrement révisés et le châssis a reçu un traitement anti-corrosion. Sa carrosserie repeinte dans la mythique teinte Mandarine emblématique de cette période est superbe.
- Dans l’habitacle, on observe une sellerie en cuir bicolore typique des premières GTI, elle est associée à des moquettes beiges et un ciel de toit gris. L’ensemble se présente en bel état de conservation. On notera la présence la climatisation, intéressante option d’époque.
- Plus de 10 000 km ont été parcourus au volant de cette auto depuis sa restauration, elle a notamment participé aux rassemblements ICCR en 2012 en Angleterre et en 2016 en Hollande. Modèle emblématique de la production française, les CX GTI Mandarine sont rares sur le marché, ce bel exemplaire constitue ainsi une superbe opportunité à ne pas rater !

- Succeeding the legendary Citroën DS was no easy task! The CX, which rolled off the production line in 1975, literally changed the car's style, marking a departure from the less radical but equally elegant design by Robert Opron. The CX also enjoyed a long career, and although it did not feature any major technical developments, it was nevertheless the first production Citroën with a front transverse engine.
- The first models were equipped with the engine of the latest DS, but German competition soon pushed French manufacturers into a race for power. The GTI phenomenon, which appeared in 1976 with a certain Golf, did not spare the French grand tourer, and from the 1977 model year, Citroën offered a sports version of its saloon. Its fuel-injected 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine developed 128 bhp, while offering a chassis that was both comfortable and sporty.
- Delivered new in Switzerland on 12 April 1978, our Largentière grey example had 2 owners before joining the collection in 2007, when it clocked up 139,000 km. It then underwent a major restoration between 2008 and 2010. The mechanical and hydraulic systems were completely overhauled, and the chassis was given an anti-corrosion treatment. The bodywork has been repainted in the mythical Mandarine hue emblematic of the period, and is superb.
- The cabin features the two-tone leather upholstery typical of early GTIs, combined with beige carpets and a grey roof lining. All in very good condition. The car also features air conditioning, an interesting option at the time.
- More than 10,000 km have been driven in this car since its restoration, and it took part in the ICCR rallies in England in 2012 and Holland in 2016. An emblematic model of French production, Mandarine CX GTIs are rare on the market, making this beautiful example a superb opportunity not to be missed!
