Description

In the world of exotic cars, the Porsche 911 is probably the model most frequently modified in the aftermarket. Many companies exist solely to build custom versions of the famed rear-engine sports car, with Gemballa being one of the longest running. Best known for its wild creations in the 1980s with massive flares and unique bodywork, the company continues to upgrade the aesthetics and performance of Porsche as well as other performance cars.

This 2002 Porsche 911 started its life as a Carrera 4 Cabriolet, but at just over one year old, it was sent to Gemballa North America in Malibu, California, where it was transformed into the Gemballa GTR 500 you see today. With invoices showing more than $141,000 in modifications, Gemballa’s work included installing 996 Turbo bodywork around the car and a Gemballa aero kit with new sills and an extended rear wing. Engine modifications were also significant, removing the standard naturally aspirated flat-six and replacing it with the twin-turbo Mezger engine from a contemporary 996 Turbo, modified to produce an estimated 500 hp. The cabin was reupholstered in stunning bright red leather, with black carpets, silver trim, and a Nakamichi CD stereo.

Offered with just 5,259 miles at cataloguing, this Gemballa GTR 500 provides exceptional performance and would make an excellent conversation piece at any car event.
