Description
TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) Jaguar had won the Lemans 24 hours and the FIA World Championship of Makes. To tackle the USA IMSA GTP championship in 1991 they built two cars in their Valparaiso, Indiana race headquarters. Driven by Davey Jones, Raul Boesel and Martin Brundle the XJR16 had six first place finishes and finished second in the championship. This car #291 was the second IMSA car built. It has a known ownership from new and a documented race history.
Using Formula One technology of the day TWR – Tony Dowe penned a carbon fiber monocoque with carbon fiber body panels and advanced aerodynamics. Weighing in at 2,094 LBS. Powered by a 90-degree twin turbo charged V-6 engine producing between 750 to 900 HP depending on turbo boost. Mated to a TWR 5 speed manual gearbox and rear wheel drive.
A very rare opportunity to purchase a famous TWR Jaguar IMSA GTP car from the Golden Age of racing when all the major manufacturers were competing for a world championship.
Professionally restored by Jaguar Group C and GTP experts and with a good spares package. It has been actively raced in historic races at Daytona, Watkins Glen, and Laguna Seca for the past several years. Comes with a good spares package.
