Description

Vehicle No. 178479

Chassis No. 178704

Engine No. 167405

Packard introduced its Sixth Series models in August 1928, offering customers an extensive selection of body styles across four chassis configurations. The Standard Eight models, designated 6-26 and 6-33, featured wheelbases of 126½ and 133½ inches respectively, while the premium Custom Eight and Deluxe Eight variants utilized longer 140½ and 145½-inch wheelbases. The Custom and Deluxe Eight models showcased Packard's world-class engineering with their powerful 384.8 cubic-inch Straight Eight engine, featuring nine main bearings and producing 105 horsepower.

Among the nine body styles available to Custom Eight customers was the uncommon and attractive Convertible Coupe seen here. The exterior features a distinctive two-tone finish combining red and a maroon beltline, enhanced by delicate chrome detailing and a tan cloth convertible top. The car's stance is enhanced by body-color disc wheels with whitewall tires. The front features Packard's signature radiator shell with stainless-steel stone guard, Woodlite headlights, and dual Trippe Speedlight driving lamps, while the rear sports a rumble seat trimmed in black leather to match the interior.

This Convertible Coupe, having been formerly preserved in the well-known Gregorie Neck Collection of Richland, South Carolina, is an exceptional Classic Era Packard. It is destined to command attention and accolades whether gracing concours events or participating in Classic Car Club of America touring activities with its next dedicated owner.
