Description
c.1958 Moto Guzzi 250cc Airone 'Racing Special'
Registration no. unregistered
Frame no. unable to locate
Engine no. MBB53
First introduced in 1939, the 250cc Airone (heron) emerged post-war with a telescopic front fork, larger diameter brakes and an aluminium-alloy cylinder barrel and 'head. With a 70mph top speed and the ability to cruise at 60mph all day, the Airone remained a top-seller well into the 1950s. An older restoration, our vendor advises us that this Airone has an engine prepared by engineer Mr Breviani and a non-standard frame featuring conventional swinging-arm rear suspension in place of the standard model's springs and friction dampers. Other notable features include alloy wheel rims, an open exhaust pipe, 'Ace'-type handlebars, rear-set footrests, fork gaiters, and a 'racing' seat. No Documents.
As with all Lots in the Sale, this Lot is sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
