Description

c.1951 Moto Guzzi 500cc Bicilindrica Racing Motorcycle
Registration no. unregistered
Frame no. 2C18 and 2C*18*
Engine no. 2C31

Its engine essentially a doubling up of its successful '250' single, Moto Guzzi's famous Bicilindrica (twin-cylinder) 500cc racer first appeared in 1933 and was still being campaigned as late as the early 1950s. The competitiveness of both these designs was emphatically demonstrated at the Isle of Man TT races in 1935 when Irish ace Stanley Woods won both the Lightweight and Senior races for the Italian manufacturer. While the twin's engine changed only in detail over time, there was a new frame complete with leading-link front fork for 1948. Works riders during the post-war era included Bruno Ruffo, Fergus Anderson, and Enrico Lorenzetti. The history of this machine is unknown. No Documents.

As with all Lots in the Sale, this Lot is sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
