Crafted in Paris, this stunning Opera Brougham bears the unmistakable influence of the legendary American designer "Dutch" Darrin. The Countess is reported to have used the car for glamorous trips between her Long Island summer estate and her winter home in Palm Beach, Florida. In 1972, the car passed to Jim and Katie Robbins of Dearborn, Michigan, who acquired it from its second owner. By that time, the car had undergone some cosmetic updates, but its timeless elegance remained. During the Robbins' ownership, it graced numerous CCCA CARavans, appearing in 12 events and earning a place in the spotlight of automotive publications.
In the 1990s, the Opera Brougham underwent an exhaustive, cost-no-object restoration by the esteemed Fran Roxas, one of the most respected names in the world of concours restorations. The restoration paid off in spectacular fashion, as the car was awarded First in Class honors at both the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance. Between 1998 and 2004, it was part of Thomas Derro's celebrated collection in Carlisle, Massachusetts, before entering the John M. O'Quinn Collection. Even in recent years, the Buick has continued to win accolades, including the coveted Dave Holls Award for Most Outstanding GM Car at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in 2007.
