Description
In 1984, when the new Nurburgring circuit was inaugurated, Mercedes provided 20 of its cars for a presentation race. The 'charm' race was attended by several F1 World Champions. Among them were big names such as Moss, Hill, Hunt, Lauda, Prost... and a certain Ayrton Senna! The race could have been a 'hard race', but the 'young' Brazilian took it seriously. There he had his first duel with Alain Prost and ended up crossing the finish line in first place.
If this event was good for the reputation of the future F1 champion, it was even better for Mercedes. The Stuttgart brand used this event to present its new sports model – the Mercedes 190 2.3 16V.
Although it was designed for rallies, it was in touring car racing that the 190 thrived. Mercedes 'delivered' the 2300cc 8V engine to the English company Cosworth, which turned it into a true racing engine. With an aluminium head, double camshaft and 4 valves per cylinder, the 2.3 16V Cosworth engine now produces 182hp.
This 190 is a 2.5 16V from 1991, which thanks to an increase in displacement now has 194 PS! The redline appears at 7000 rpm, 100 km/h is achieved in less than 8 seconds and the speedometer stops at 235 km/h. These are respectable values, even 33 years later. And let's be honest, if it's good enough for Senna, it's good enough for you!
Imported from Belgium in 1993, this 2.5 Cosworth is configured in the classic combination of Smoke Silver Metallic with black leather upholstery. It features air conditioning, individual rear seat configuration and a full service history.
