Description
The Jaguar MK V actually was an interim model in between the SS type of Jaguar and the MK VII. The MK V was introduced just after the war, every manufacturer, including Jaguar, was keen to produce exciting new models, and the Jaguar management had in mind a new flagship saloon (The MK VII). This however took longer to design and produce than they would have liked, and did not finally appear until 1950. The interim model, the MKV had an entirely new body, new interior as well as more luxurious items such as full leather interior.
In those days, the Jaguar MK V was delivered both as 4 door Saloon and Drophead Coupe model.
The MK V was available with a 2.5 and a 3.5 litre 6 cylinder engines which produces 104 or 125 horsepower. A small difference of only 21 horsepower.
More special is the amount of cars which are made. Only 28 examples are build with a 2.5 litre engine. This specific example with chassis number 547012 is 1 of them.
The Jaguar is manufactured at the 8th of November 1950 and has been despatched at the 31st of January 1951 via dealer Bassalone.
One of the most well known restoration companies in the Netherlands, Noble House has bought this Jaguar in 1989. A restoration has started in 1994 for the owner of Noble House to show their quality at shows. Amongst the shows, the car would be prepared for to drive simple tours with the different Dutch classic car clubs.
Plans for this Jaguar changed in 1999 when the former owner bought this Jaguar from Noble House. Without looking at any costs, the Jaguar had to become the nicest and the best in the world. More then 550.000,- guilders nowadays the same in euro’s was spend on the restoration.
An extremely well documented restoration has been the result. The Jaguar is complete with a huge picture as well as invoice file.
The result of the restoration is a car in an absolute pristine condition. Although some years have passed the Jaguar has been owned by a classic car enthousiast which took very much care of his collection. The result is that the Jaguar still is in a just finished from restoration condition.
