The 911 Turbo not only defined the Porsche brand and its performance aspirations during the late 1970s and into the 1980s but also further cemented the German marque's reputation in the United States. Its sporting potential aside, the 911 Turbo had a tremendous cultural impact on the "young urban professional" set and came to define a generation of automotive enthusiasts. Interestingly, however, although the Type 930 was one of the fastest production cars in the world upon its introduction, emissions-regulations couldn't save it from being unavailable in the U.S.-market at the end of 1979, but by 1986 the 911 Turbo had returned Stateside with a bang. The residual shockwave amplified in 1987 when the Sonderwunsch department became Porsche Exclusive and codified the most exclusive request of all-that for a Slantnose 911 Turbo. Known as the M505 option and offered between 1987 and 1989, only 609 were produced for the U.S.-market in that short three-year period.

Finished in the very appropriate shade of Guards Red over a special-order Champagne leather and black leatherette interior, this special example of Porsche's race-bred 911 Turbo is one of only 144 Slantnose Coupes for 1987. In addition to the $23,826 M505 factory Slantnose option, additional factory extras include driver's side lumbar support and a front trunk lined in Black velour. Further option codes included on the specifications decal include standard Turbo features optional on the standard 911 which include a Blaupunkt Reno radio, an alarm, and an electric sliding sunroof. First delivered to Jim Ellis Porsche of Atlanta, Georgia this well-documented turbocharged Slantnose has received over $100,000 in servicing from Porsche Classic and a "who's who" of marque specialists since 2018. As documented in the history file, Porsche Classic completed an engine out service that included a new ignition coil, V-belt, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, hoses, ignition control unit, oxygen sensor, gaskets, clutch, pressure plate, and release bearing. A fresh interior from Autobahn Interiors was sent to Porsche Classic to be installed and its 16 inch forged Fuchs wheels were restored by Harvey Weidman in 2019. A year later, in 2020, Stahl Motorsports of West Palm Beach, Florida completed another round of engine-out sorting invoiced at $50,000 to replace and renew timed-out and wear items. The work included a new flywheel, clutch service, and the installation of new crankshaft and mainshaft seals in addition to an engine top-end and turbo rebuild returning it closer to factory-fresh condition and performance. Offered with 72,383 miles at the time of cataloging this documented 911 Turbo Slantnose Coupe is offered with its original window sticker, a set of books, a tool kit, air pump, and extensive service records.
