Description

Presented here is a multiple award-winning example of Gordon Buehrig’s landmark Cord 810/812 design. Its innovative styling is complemented by equally advanced mechanicals, incorporating front-wheel drive and a robust V-8 engine with power delivered through a Bendix four-speed preselector gearbox.

Certified as a Category 1 original car by the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Club, its ownership history has been documented to 1972. In 1984, it joined the S. Ray Miller collection in Elkhart, Indiana, where it was cared for by LaVine Restorations. Scott Isquick acquired the Cord in 2004, and over the next three years, mechanical and cosmetic work was completed in preparation for its show and judging debut. It received the AACA George M. Holley Award in 2007 followed by a CCCA Primary First Place award in 2009 and a Senior First Place award one year later, judged at 99.5 points.

Finished in red with a contrasting tan canvas top, the 812 has those tones repeated in its interior with the red dashboard serving as the background for the engine-turned instrument panel accented by tan leather upholstery and carpets. With the top raised, the interior compartment is snugly enclosed and when lowered, the top is cleverly concealed beneath a hinged-metal top boot, providing a smooth, uninterrupted profile. This Cord 812 Phaeton is a striking presentation of one of the most innovative cars of the Classic Era, and its numerous judging awards validate its authenticity and condition.
