Description

At the end of 1925, Ettore Bugatti's genius began a new production of touring cars as a "comfortable" evolution of the Type 37 and Type 35. Thus, the 40 and 38 were born, respectively equipped with 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engines and 2.0-liter 8-cylinder engines, the same engines as their Grand Prix sisters.

The Type 38 was produced in a total of 386 units, some leaving Molsheim with various 2 and 4-seat torpedo bodies, others as sedans and convertibles; only a few units, upon special order, were delivered as chassis only, ready to be fitted with special bodies.

This "38325" was indeed one of the chassis delivered to the dealership in Paris at 116 Avenue des Champs Elysées (currently the Apple Store, opposite Louis Vuitton!) in December 1926 with an invoice of 43,050 ff.

Subsequently, this car was rebodied as a 4-seat Torpedo by Lavocat & Marsaud according to the design by René Ville and repainted in its original Blue color.

The car is in excellent condition, ready to be used for the most prestigious events such as the 1000 Miglia and Le Mans Classic.
