The F40 was unveiled to the press for the first time in Maranello on July 21, 1987, utilizing the chassis number 73015. In the autumn, another example, chassis 74047, would be showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show for its public debut.

In the car's design, you can see the influence of the 288 GTO Evoluzione developed a few years earlier, focusing on efficiency. It also integrates lessons from the 408, featuring a structure made from composite materials.

Although it appears that no signage was used at the time, presented here is one, albeit relatively sizable with a length of 1.59 meters. It can be affixed to a wall using its built-in structure and illuminates upon being plugged in.
