Description
An important, large bronze wall plaque depicting a winged Goddess of Speed at the wheel of an early motorcar, by Jacques Callot (French, 1880–1945). Features border with finely detailed floral decoration, and impressed signature of CALLOT in the bronze. French, circa 1903.
Jacques Callot was born in the town of Blaru in Northern France. A student of René Gaulthier-Ponscarme, Callot won the Grand Prix of the sculpture category of the Salon des Beaux-Arts in 1898, at the age of only 18.
Size: 16 x 18 in. (40 x 44 cm).
