Description

Automoto was a French bicycle and motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1902. It joined the Peugeot group in 1930 and was fully absorbed by the company by 1962. This Automoto Tricycle is fitted with the brand’s own engine, unlike many of its competitors who utilized a de Dion unit.

The Automoto was purchased by the Mullin Collection at Retromobile in 2018 from the Guélon Collection. Pierre Guélon was a successful businessman from Auvergne who discovered a large collection of motorcycle engines and components in 1972 and spent the next 40 years resurrecting motorcycles, creating one of the most important private collections in France. This rare and highly attractive tricycle would make a noteworthy addition to any French or early motorcycle collection.

*Please note that all of the Lots in this Auction have been in long-term static storage at the Mullin Automotive Museum and may not be currently operational. They will require mechanical attention and in some cases significant restoration prior to any road use.
