Description
1967 ZIL 114
French title
Chassis n° 8
Engine n° 433
- Used to be in the Heads of State Car Museum
- Believed to have belonged to the President of the Republic of Mongolia
- Extremely rare model in Europe
Launched in 1967 as a replacement for the ZIL 111, the 114 limousine featured a 7L V8 engine developing around 300hp, and mated to an automatic transmission. The Moscow-based brand offered this model until 1985. Capable of nearly 190 km/h, it was equipped with 4 disc brakes, while its body was largely inspired by the Chrysler Imperial.
Extremely rare in Western Europe, this particular car was purchased by Paul Thanry in 2004 from the founder of the Museum of the Heads of State Cars. The latter confirmed to us that the car then had the license plate YB0001, reserved for the President of the Republic of Mongolia. This spectacular ZIL is in original condition, previously repainted. The sills show the beginnings of some corrosion, at first glance easily repairable, while the rest of the car is very sound. The opulent interior, draped in fabric for the rear compartment and leather for the driver's area, is in good condition. At the rear, space and equipment are generous and truly worthy of a head of state, while the pennant holders on the front fenders immediately suggest official parades. This car was working when it was purchased in 2004 but has not been used for about 15 years since the gearbox was blocked. It will need a full overhaul before it gets back on to the road, but it is well worth the work.
