The 'People's Car' had many variants from 1938 until the end of production in 2003 and, although the sedan version was the most practical and popular, the success of the Volkswagen spurred the creation of a cabriolet version.

The cabriolet was manufactured by Karmann, a coachbuilding company founded in the 19th century, which began production of the first Beetle cabriolets in 1949.

This 1303 S has the most interesting engine behind the rear axle. With 1600cc and 50 hp of power, it quickly received the epithet 'Super Beetle'. The suspension was also revised, it received rack and pinion steering and the front axle has disc brakes, which translates into a much safer and… sportier drive!

Sold in Luxembourg in December 1976, this Beetle arrived in Portugal in 1984 and is in excellent condition, never having been restored – just very well maintained.
