Description
The Volvo PV 444 presented in 1944 (PV standing for personvagn 444 for 4 cylinders, 40 horsepower and four seats) was an instant success and immediately 2’300 purchase contracts were signed. Assembly of the new Volks-Volvo only started in 1947, due to a general raw-material shortage just after World War 2. After some minor modifications, towards the end of 1955, the PV 444 K was offered between December 1955 and January 1957. The “K” distinguished itself from its predecessor by a new and different radiator grill and the new 1.6 litre B16A engine delivering 60 horsepower. The example offered was first registered in July 1967 and probably imported into Switzerland in the 80s. From 2010 the “hunchback” Volvo was owned by a brand enthusiast who in turn sold it to the vendor in 2018. He, owner of a small collection, only covered around 1’000 kilometres with the 444 and now has decided to pass it on. The pretty saloon is in good overall condition and will be sold with the most recent veteran MOT from April 2024.
