Description

On offer fromthe Anthony Hamilton Collection is a lovely Triumph GT6 Mk2Finished in Saffron Yellow with a smart Saddle Tanleather interior. 73,368 milesSubject to an earlier Sherwoods Restoration and still presents very nicelyInspected by the RAC in 2001 for a valuation and the examiner quoted " that it would be hard to find a better example"Itstill retains itsoriginal push-button Motorola radio and thereis a comprehensive history fileThe GT6 was originally designed as a four-cylinder tin-top counterpart to the Spitfire, but when Triumphs development team realised that the coupe was somewhat slower than the roadster, they came up with the obvious solution of fitting the straight-six engine from the 2000 saloon and Vitesse. In the process, they had unwittingly produced a miniature E-Type Jaguar, as well as a very effective rival to the recently-launched MGB GT. The extra power of the 2.0-litre stuffed into the Spitfires chassis soon earned it a reputation for being great in a straight line, but not so good in corners as the swing-axle rear suspension was prone to suddenlift-off oversteer quickly turning a scenic drive into a drive through the scenery. This problem was solved with the arrivalof the GT6 Mk2in late 1968 thanks to a revised rear suspension set up which reversed the wishbone mountings and introduced Retroflex driveshaft couplings.Offered here from the Anthony Hamilton Collection is a lovely Triumph GT6 Mk2finished in Saffron Yellow with a Saddle Tanleather interior. It has been subject to an earlier Sherwoods Restoration and still presents very nicely. It was subject to an RAC report in 2001 and the examiner quoted that 'it would be hard to find a better example'. At that time, the mileage was 48,900 and the speedometer still only shows 73,368 miles. The lovely reupholstered interior still retails itsoriginal push-button Motorola radio and thereis a comprehensive history file.
