This rear-engine luxury car was produced by Czechoslovakian company Tatra between 1956 and 1975. During this time, three versions of the model were manufactured successively. Built in communist Czechoslovakia at the time only high-ranking party officials or factory bosses could own the 603. The 603 was also exported to other countries that were allied to Czechoslovakia, including Cuba and China. and It's known that the Cuban leader Fidel Castro owned a white 603. This vehicle is indeed very rare in Australia.
Presented in Gloss black with a red velvet cloth interior it showcases an immaculate cabin area, with white wall tyres and a polished chrome bumper, this luxury four door sedan looks like it just rolled out of the factory.
Using an air-cooled 2.5 Litre V8 overhead valve hemi engine that had been previously used in Tatra race cars and military trucks to great success. The factory 4-speed synchronized manual transmission was available with an option to order 'mountain' gearing in place of the standard ratios.
The total number of 603s built is uncertain as older cars were brought back to the factory, modernised and upgraded, then returned to service as new cars.
A stunning addition to any collection, the Tatra 603 SII- presenting immaculately overall would be sure to make a sound investment for any collector.
