Illustration of a similar car.
The Tatra 57 was the successor to the Type 12, introduced from the Nesselsdorf-based works in 1932. It featured a overhead camshaft, air-cooled four cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 1155 cm2 and a power output of some 18 hp, propelling the 780 kg light car to a top speed of some 80 km/h.
The Tatra 57A was introduced in 1936 as its successor. The engine, with the same displacement, now produced 2 hp more, sufficicnet for a top speed of 90 km/h. Most bodies were 2 door saloons, but special open and closed police cars were available.
Described by the vendor as in largely fair to good condition, it would benefit from some attention to the paintwork but technically is sound with recent attention to the engine, brakes and front axle.A charming, technically advanced small car.
