We have a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Prodrive. The car has only clocked up 181,000 km and is in fine restored condition. This car was taken apart right down to the very last nut and bolt before being put back together in every aspect. During the rebuild the opportunity was used to put in a few upgrades, taking its handling to a higher plane.

The bodywork looks splendid, having been taken back to bare metal and repaired where needed it was then resprayed in Subaru blue. It has the hallmark refurbished gold rims. During the work, the original Prodrive front bumper and grill were refitted. The car looks exactly as it did when brand new.

The entirely original interior is in a used but neat state of upkeep. The seats and carpets do show some signs of wear but still, look good considering the car’s age and mileage. The dashboard has a few additional gauges and an HKS-turbo timer preventing overheating the turbo system when the hot engine no longer circulates oil to cool it down. This is a typical example of the high standards used when they recommissioned the car.

The previous owner undertook the complete engine rebuild. During this, a larger top-mounted turbo was installed, lifting the output to 400 hp. The previous owner stated he had managed to get the speedometer up to 290 km/hr! We can only conclude that this must be a very fit specimen, never thrashed about and clearly cherished. The engine has a delightful old-fashioned turbo lag, but as long as you keep the revs above 3,000 rpm there is always ample power on tap. One of the extras fitted during the restoration was a 30-click adjustable BC Racing coil cover set. As well as that various Perrin components were fitted such as a more efficient radiator and alternative exhaust system to speed up the boxer’s fume emission. Naturally, an exhaust manifold with uneven runners is there producing that lovely boxer grunt, bringing even more joy when driving this incredible Subaru.

All work has been properly documented with a series of photos. It would appear the previous owner spent some € 40,000 in order to bring this car up to its current level. We now have a turn-key Subaru Impreza STI

Prodrive. All you need to do is fill her up with many litres of Euro 98 and enjoy the kind of drive simply no longer on sale (our car excepted that is).
