Description

"Singer Motors Limited was a British motor vehicle manufacturing business, originally a bicycle manufacturer founded in 1874 in Coventry. From 1901 George Singer's Singer Motor Co made cars and commercial vehicles. The last car to carry the Singer name was an upmarket version of the rear engined Hillman Imp called the Chamois. With the takeover of Rootes by Chrysler beginning in 1964 and completed in 1967, many of the brands were set to vanish and use of the Singer name ended in 1970.
This rare Singer Chamois was registered on the 27th November 1968 and presents in dark green with a contrasting grey interior and polished walnut veneer dash. Taking advantage of the mechanics of a Hillman Imp but fitted with the standard equipment of temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge and heater blower this Singer is described by the vendor as tremendous fun to drive. When launched this model received very favourable press and sold well. Presented to auction with a V5C registration document and offered without reserve.
