It is an all original 2 owner car with full known story. The car was initially bought in the Valls (Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain) dealer back in 89, with the fabrication and reg date matching and the original paperwork and even the receipt for the installation of the stereo and equaliser, which were installed by the dealer after the purchase and before collection as a gift.
These invoices appeared hidden in one of the pockets on the front seats, as the dealer also installed seat covers and they left them in there. Up to now no one had sat on the original fabric.
In any case the original owner sold it to his mate, who used it for some time and finally stored it in his barn back in 2007. Fast forwards to 2021, current owner bought the car in late January and has been extensively reconditioning it and bringing it back to the condition it deserves to be.
Current owner bought this in a town about 3 miles from where the car was originally sold, so the car has always lived within a 10-mile radius.
The odometer shows 115k kms (around 70k miles) and all original. Chassis: The car has no rust and again it is all original underneath. When it came to degreasing the chassis and detailing it all the original production line markings and stickers appeared, even the inspection stickers were still there.
Nothing underneath has been painted, so the paint underneath, the markings and stickers are all still from the factory. The rear drums are in excellent shape and the pads look rather new. At the front, the discs and pads are new. The brake fluid has been fully flushed.
There are no significant leaks and zero clunks, rattles, or steering play. It has 4 brand new tyres on the original (not refurbished yet in very good condition) aluminium alloys. It has a full-size spare alloy too with a still original Pirelli tyre. The original jacking kit is in the boot too.
Interior: The interior has a new car like feeling to it, the foam in the seats is firm and the fabric is in extremely good shape with no wear. The steering wheel was covered in some sort of sticky residue and the leather faded yet not broken, so it has been recoloured with black leather dye.
Absolutely everything works as it should, including the radio. Some of the numbers in the equaliser are a bit faded but nothing that can be appreciated at a first glance. The carpet is in very good shape and so is everything else. The sunroof works as it should (manual) and it has no leaks, nor do the door seals. All the electric windows work smoothly and are fast going up and down.
The only thing untouched is the fabric on the sun visors, as it is extremely thin and turning to dust when touched (if you are familiar with these cars, Montegos and so on they have a 15x25 cm or so patch of fabric, the rest is plastic). The headliner is not saggy at all and the previous owner told that they had it re trimmed about 20 years ago now.
Exterior: Once decontaminated and corrected the car definitely has the “wow” factor. Presented mostly in its original single stage red, the colour is vibrant and looks in very good shape, minding a few minor dents and scratches here and there.
Has been tried to reflect these in some of the more detailed pictures. Could have corrected 90% of these imperfections but, but it´s for sale being as original as possible. The two worst bits are a dent on the rear right edge of the quarter panel and a scratch in the bumper. The dent will definitely push out, but I’d rather not touch it. After correcting all the paint can be confirmed that everything is single stage as it should, although seller suspects that at some point the bonnet may have been resprayed, not 100% sure.
Engine: The engine has been fully degreased, serviced and inspected. It has new spark plugs and dizzy cap and rotor, new air filter, fuel filter (twice), oil and oil filter (twice, as the first lot was treated as a flush with only a few minutes of running time.
The gearbox has also been flushed and everything coming out of it was clean. The radiator and cooling system have been extensively flushed too, and it has a new thermostat. The water pump was removed and inspected, and it had no play or wear. The timing belt and tensioner have also been changed.
The car starts effortlessly both cold and warm and doesn’t smoke, hesitate, or overheat. The electric fan works as it should, kicking in at around ¾ on the temp gauge and bringing it down to ½. When moving, it never gets past ½. The heating system works very well too. There is the odd bit of engine oil sweating here and there but very minor, doesn’t even get to the floor.
Overall the car is in extremely original and good condition, with very few and minor imperfections which are hard to notice unless someone tells you about them. It is rust free, has lived all its life within a 10-mile radius in the dry, sunny Mediterranean weather and has always slept in a garage.
Its history can be traced back to the day it was bought, and we have the details of the previous owners and dealership that sold it (even the key ring with the name and details of the dealer are still on the car). It genuinely needs nothing doing and it is most certainly a car that is ready to be enjoyed, it just needs the right owner who will appreciate it.
