Description
First introduced in 1971, the Rolls-Royce Corniche instantly became the epitome of elegance, famed the world over for its luxury and style. It took nearly 15 years to elevate the original, and in 1986 the updated Corniche II was unveiled, tailored specifically for the United States market. Designed by Mulliner Park Ward, each car was meticulously crafted by hand, with the construction process taking up to five months-two weeks of which were dedicated to building and fitting the convertible top. New features for 1986 included a cellular telephone, "memory" front seats, and a redesigned center console, alongside traditional luxuries like Connolly leather, Lombardy wood veneers, and Lambswool carpeting. Powered by a 6.75-liter V8 engine, the Corniche II could reach 120 miles per hour despite its weight of over three tons. With a starting price of $163,800 (equivalent to over $450,000 today), the Corniche II earned its title as "The Ultimate Convertible," combining top-down motoring with the pinnacle of luxury and sophistication.
This 1986 Rolls-Royce Corniche II was delivered new through F.C Kerbeck & Sons of Palmyra, New Jersey, to its first owner in Summit Station, Pennsylvania, on 30 December 1985. The new owners, no doubt, rang in the new year in style. Finished in Magnolia with double Tan fine body lines to match the scrumptious Tan Connolly leather interior with Deep Fawn Wilton Lambswool carpeting and a Tan convertible top, the car remains in remarkably original condition. At cataloging, it features just over 23,000 miles traveled over the past four decades. The car was well equipped with all the amenities one could desire in a Rolls-Royce when new, including a car phone in the center console in addition to cocktail requisites in both doors. The car benefits from recent maintenance work that includes the replacement of all four tires. Complete with a clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report, copies of original factory records provided by the Rolls-Royce Foundation, a set of books, jack, and tool sets, this Corniche II will surely cosset its fortunate passengers with just as much aplomb today as when new.
