Description
Italian title
Chassis # CRX20285
- Delivered new in France, in splendid original condition
- Extremely rare left-hand drive model with sunroof
- The most expensive model on the market at its time
Its chassis plate from the French importer "Franco Britannic Autos" suggests that this car was delivered new in France. However, it was in Italy when our collector bought it, charmed by its superb original condition. What's more, this Corniche is one of the few coupes that is equipped with an original sunroof.
The two-tone beige and tobacco body emphasizes the elegant profile and the "Spirit of Ecstasy" surmounts the high grille, but it is the inside where the car reveals the luxury for which the brand is renowned. Genuine armchairs with armrests and, at the rear, a spacious bench seat welcome the occupants, all of it upholstered in top quality beige leather. The burl walnut dashboard is equipped with all the necessary instruments, including a rev counter specific to this Corniche version. The jack is present in the carpeted trunk and the hood conceals the V8 whose power (slightly higher on the Corniche. The Corniche also benefited from ventilated brake discs. Officially called "Two-door Saloon by HJ Mulliner-Park Ward", 1,155 units of the coupe were produced between 1971 and 1980, making it a rare, exclusive and particularly desirable car - and even more so, in the magnificent condition this one is in.
