Description
To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Paris event, 4 - 5 February 2025.
- Early production example of the 928 grand touring 2+2 presented in its purest form
- Water-cooled 4.5-litre V-8 engine is paired with a five-speed, dogleg manual gearbox
- Presented in Silver Grey Metallic over cream fabric interior featuring chequerboard Pasha door and seat inserts; wears five-hole, telephone dial-style alloy wheels
- History in Luxembourg, Germany, and Belgium; joined The Curated Collection in August 2017
Unsurprisingly for a model that remained in production for the better part of 20 years, the front-engined Porsche 928 was treated to a plethora of styling tweaks during its long lifetime. Revised bumpers, front and rear spoilers, new lights, plus a host of wheel designs came and went. For many, though, the grand tourer never looked better than when presented in its earliest, and cleanest, guise like the example offered here.
This car was delivered new in November 1979 via the German city of Trier before crossing the border to live in Luxembourg. Stamps in the accompanying service book indicate that this 928 later returned to its home city of Stuttgart for maintenance before joining The Curated Collection in August 2017, having been purchased via Porsche specialist August SA of Ohain, Belgium. Please note that the 4.5-litre V-8 engine appears to have been restamped.
Presented in Silver Grey Metallic over a quintessentially 1970s interior that pairs cream fabric with chequerboard Pasha door and seat inserts, the Porsche displayed 168,652 kilometres at the time of cataloguing.
