To offer a vehicle of such importance and rarity in a public auction, is certainly a chance any auction house will be proud of and so is Coys. Only 11 of these iconic sports cars - all prototypes - were made. The first five of these cars were sent to the Porsche family for their own personal use. Car no 0017, which we are proud to offer here today, is, we are told, one of these very special cars.
After being sold by Dr. Michael Piech (of the Porsche dynasty) to Pericles Embiricos of Greek shipping magnate family, Mr. Embiricos had the car registered in Switzerland on 5th June 1972, as a copy of the Swiss registration document shows.
