In the history of the automobile, the two German brands Porsche and Volkswagen have crossed paths several times, even before they were united within the same group. When the 911 was launched, it replaced the 356. The brand wanted to offer an alternative to the 911 that would enable it to conquer a wider market, particularly in the United States. To do this, the two brands joined forces under a new company, VW-Porsche, and began designing the 914. It was distributed in the United States as a Porsche and in Europe as a Volkswagen. Its design breaks with what we are used to seeing from the Stuttgart firm and does not leave anyone indifferent. At the time of its release, there were two engines, a 4-cylinder 1,700 cm3 and a 2.0L V6. This second version had difficulty selling due to its high price. In 1972, Porsche increased the displacement of its 4-cylinder engine to 2.0L and
engine to 2.0L and its performance is now similar to that of the V6. This 100 HP engine fits perfectly in this small car that breathes sport, with its wide tracks, ultra-low beltline and centrally positioned engine. Inside, the two seats are placed in a spacious cabin, where the Porsche spirit reigns, thanks to the presence of large meters.
In its yellow and black interior configuration, this little Porsche is in good general condition. The interior is in good condition, the manual gearbox is an invitation to a sporty drive. An icon of the German marque, this Porsche 914 is a good way to enter the brotherhood of vintage cars on a reasonable budget."
