An official document from Porsche confirms that this is indeed an original 914/6, which left the factory in March 1970, finished in 'Irish Green' with a brown leatherette interior and leather steering wheel. It was intended for the US market and was sold to its first owner by the Porsche dealer in Boston. From 1998-2000, it was in England, before being sold in France. Its current owner, a Belgian collector, bought it in 2011 through a specialist in south-west France. He wanted the 914/6 to be perfect and invested a great deal of time and money to this end. He sent the car to the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring, whom he had already entrusted with other restorations, and it came back in superb condition, in a vivid shade of green reminiscent of Porsche's 'Viper Green'. The roof was also repainted in the same colour.
In 2014, the Weber carburettors were overhauled and after the engine - probably a highly-tuned 2.4-litre - had been restored, the car was dyno tested, recording power of nearly 200 bhp (DIN) at the rear wheels at 3500 rpm. Our client confirmed the car's impressive performance.
This restoration is to such a high standard that it clearly exceeds the value of the car: it is a rare opportunity to acquire an unusual model which stands out from traditional Porsches thanks to its mid-engined layout.
